The two middle school students will show off their spelling abilities on March 17 in Great Bend at the Sunflower Spelling Bee. The bee will welcome spellers from 75 Kansas counties this year.
This competition is a qualifying round for the Scripps National Spelling Bee, which takes place later this spring in Washington D.C. Competitors also have a chance to win a variety of prizes.
Anna and Michael qualified for the state bee in January at the Johnson County Spelling Bee, held in Spring Hill. They won their spot in the state bee competing with more than 80 students from area schools.
